Attendance

We are proud of our good attendance; which shows that children are happy, motivated and successful at our school. Regular and punctual attendance is very important in developing a child’s own responsibility for their work. Lateness can be very disruptive for the individual as well as the rest of the class. There are, however, occasions when absence or lateness cannot be avoided. If your child has an illness and is late or absent from school please telephone the school on the first day and follow this with a letter when your child returns to school. If we do not receive a telephone call we will endeavour to contact you. Failure to give written notice of a child’s absence results in the recording of an unauthorised absence.

Please note that the registers close at 9.00 a.m. and 1.20 p.m. daily

Authorised absence is absence with permission from school; usually for medical reasons. Unauthorised absence is absence without permission from school! This includes all unexplained absences. Please note that Unauthorised absence counts as ‘truanting’!!
N.B. Please also note that a ‘late’ mark is recorded as unauthorised absence for the whole morning!
